Manfredi Beninati was an Italian artist who worked in the media of painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, installation and film.

He went to law school before switching to film studies, which he attended parallel to working as a runner and assistant director for Italian film productions.

Manfredi’s transition to becoming an artist came about as a consequence of a bet in January 2000. Since then, he has exhibited in solo shows throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia, as well as in a number of museums – Royal Academy, MAXXI, MACRO, Hammer, Parrish to name a few – and biennales – most notably in Liverpool, Istanbul, Athens, Thessaloniki, Shanghai and at the Venice Biennale, where he was awarded the Audience Prize in 2005.

In 2012, Manfredi decided to take a long sabbatical to dedicate his time and energy to setting up a foundation and library in Palermo with his mother, Carla, in memory of his brother Flavio, who passed away in 2006 at the age of 33.

Since 2018, he has been focusing on independent film projects and writing, mostly under pseudonyms.

He lived and worked between Palermo and Los Angeles.
